Hilton Garden Inn and Texarkana Convention Center Opens in Texarkana Texas

TEXARKANA, Tex., (October 8, 2012) – – -Officials of Daugherty Property Group (DPG) today announced the opening of the 154-room Hilton Garden Inn in conjunction with the grand opening of the Texarkana Convention Center , a 25,000 square foot event space designed to accommodate large and mid-sized events.
The Hilton Garden Inn at the Texarkana Convention Center is the city’s first upscale hotel that delivers all the services of a full service hotel. Together with the convention center the hotel signals an effort by city officials to encourage Texarkana’s emergence as a destination for local events and large regional conventions.

According to Daugherty, the project already has proven to be an important economic driver as several major events including the Toyota Tundra Bass Masters Event, the Arkansas Audubon Society and Texas Association of School Board Leaders already are booked at the hotel and convention center. Several other fundraisers, holiday banquets, weddings, and corporate events are projected to bring more than 150,000 attendees to the Texarkana Convention Center in its first year of operation.
